Northland & Bay of Islands
Also known as the "Winterless North" due to its temperate climate this area takes in the northen most tip of the North Island to just south of Whangarei, the areas largest populated area.
It is an area of coastal beauty with many outer small islands. Perhaps one of the most historical areas in New Zealand is Waitangi where the Treaty of Waitangi was signed in February 1840.
Apart from Whangarei many other smaller towns make up this region such as Paihia, Kerikeri, Russell and Kaikohe.
Big game fishing is very popular in the area and many tourists visit the area yearly taking in such sights as the light house at Cape Reinga and the stone house at Kerikeri.
