Almost to the southern end of the North Island is the region of Wairarapa. With a rugged coast line taking in the southern most area of the North Island at Cape Palliser to the vineyards of Martinborough.
Only an hours drive from the capital city of Wellington the Wairarapa region offers so much to see and do. From the vineyards of Martinbourough to the wild windswept coast line of Castlepoint beach walks, water activities, bike rides and more are at every turn.
For a sedate activity at certain times of the year hot air ballooning is very popular in Carterton and the small town of Greytown offers many buildings from days gone by to discover.
On the coast fur seals, dolphins and occasionally whales come close to shore. Have your camera ready to catch these magnificent creatures.
If just passing through or staying a while the area of Wairarapa will leave you with great memories to treasure.
